Songs of the Sephardim in Izmir

Songs of the Sephardim in Izmir
How do you preserve a dying language? In Izmir, a Turkish city rich with religious history and culture, Ceni is working to promote Ladino—the endangered language of Sephardic Jews. Ceni’s mother and grandmother spoke Ladino at home, but like many others of her generation, it was never passed down to her. Through music and song, Ceni finds a deep connection with her Sephardic heritage and hopes to save Ladino for future generations.
